Our Vision: |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The world needs genuine
innovators—those who dedicate themselves to an ideal, draw from many
domains, and reframe challenges as opportunities. Innovators not only
move mountains but often change the entire landscape. That landscape
defines
the potential available to the rest of the community. When focused on
important problems innovations can result in enormous social good. We
plan to increase the potential for innovative solutions in areas where
good ideas are needed most.
We believe that anyone who wants to change the world should be helped to be successful. What we do... Our core program, Local Agenda, has three main versions: a youth program, a community-based adult program, and a program designed specifically for the baby boomers in their second half of life. Local Agenda is a comprehensive model that includes educational workshops, resource materials, technology-based learning tools, connection to experts and to support from the local community. We train others in how to implement this model effectively. We also engage with universities, experts, funders, and community consultants to ensure budding social entrepreneurs get what they need. Why do we do this? Although we often view the world from a global perspective, we know that critical issues happen locally—impacting real people in their own communities. Whether the challenge is homelessness or teen pregnancy or environmental degradation, the context is really someone's backyard. Three beliefs ground our work:
We focus on the underserved and poor in diverse communities worldwide, developing effective, local change-makers through education. |

| How? |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| People
who accomplish extraordinary things follow similar patterns of behavior—patterns
that become a path others can follow. The process of innovation can
be
learned, practiced, and implemented, yet, until now, no comprehensive
approach to fostering social innovation existed. Do you want to be a trainer for Local Agenda? Let us know.
